Meet Fr. LiamThe Very Reverend William C. Muller Jr.—known by most as Fr. Liam—has been at St. Mary’s since July 1, 2006. Born and raised in Fishkill, New York, he served in the United States Army from 1982 through 1986 and received his undergraduate degree from Marist College, located in Poughkeepsie, NY, in 1988. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Liam worked as a journalist. In July of 1988 he and his wife Margaret were married in the Church of the Good Shepherd, an Episcopal Church located in Newburgh, NY. Margaret—who is both his wife and his best friend—has ably and lovingly shared Liam’s journey with him. The couple is blessed with three sons—Bill, Bryan and Brad—who are wonderful sources of joy and inspiration in their lives. In 2003, Fr. Liam began seminary at The Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California, where upon graduation he received his Masters of Divinity Degree in May of 2006. He was ordained to the Transitional Deaconate in March 2006 at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City and, on September 16th, 2006 he was ordained to the priesthood right here at St. Mary’s in Mitchell, SD. Fr. Liam is a firm believer in the ministry of the baptized and in sharing
the gifts of ministry we all possess. His is an open, engaging and energetic
ministry, which seeks at all times to proclaim the Good News of Jesus
Christ in our lives, in our words and in our deeds. Further, Fr. Liam
-- echoing our Baptismal Covenant -- seeks to promote the dignity of all
of God's children regardless of age, gender, orientation or race. Fr.
Liam's is a welcoming ministry dedicated to building up and sustaining
the Body of Christ here on earth. |
